About the Project
„Lights ON!” (RORS 248) is a project financed by European Union through Interreg-IPA Cross-border Cooperation Romania-Serbia Programme and implemented by Mod of Life association from Drobeta Turnu Severin as Lead partner in close cooperation with Drobeta Turnu Severin Municipality (Partner no. 2) and Kladovo Touristic Organization (Partner no. 3).
Main objective of the project is to enhance tourism in cross-border region in order to promote social, economic andterritorial development.
Drobeta Turnu Severin and Kladovo, can represent a cradle of tourism with a rich tradition. By lighting up the existing touristic atractions in area (The medieval fortress in Drobeta, the bridge of roman emperor Traian) through a show of lights and sound, through promotional video-clips and holograms, efforts are undertaken to utilise this potential in the most tourism-oriented places of this region in order to directly increase the number of visitors at the common cross-border destination.
The Lights On! project will design and package historical sites into attractive tourist attractions, by improving visitor experience, on-site services, creating joint marketing tools and developing new creative products. New products will be developed in cooperation with local entrepreneurs by using innovative service designing concepts.
Creating attractive new products and new marketing tools will increase visitor numbers on sites, attract new visitor groups and attract visitors to move between the sites. When local communities start benefitting from the sites and participate in project events their awareness of the historical and natural values will rise.
The project will do branding activities, create materials, and disseminate information online and via tourism organisations and info centres promoting the common history as well as the Danube region as an attractive place to see and learn more about it.
The project will also strive for linking the local attractions to a wider European context of local history.
The main objective of the project is to enhance tourism in cross-border region in order to promote social, economic and territorial development. Sustainable development of cross-border region through effective, innovative and modern use of marketing activities which will reflect on improving tourism offer to be promoted throughout the project, and will ultimately have a spillover effect on tourism development in cross-border region by increasing the share in the overall tourism.
Total project budget is 424903.22 euros.
